inspired by my reading of the happiness project by gretchen rubin, i am instituting monday "gratitude" posts (read here for more detail), where i will list "3 things i'm grateful for" from the previous week.
the 3 things i'm grateful for this week are:
1) i stuck to the work-out/gym schedule i'd made for myself last sunday night. why is this always harder to do than it should be?!
2) i got to show the bf my hometown in pure michigan for the first time this weekend.
3) by the skin of my teeth, i made it through week 3 of my self-imposed august clothes shopping hiatus. issues that arose this week include: first, i expanded "clothes" to all non-essential things i wanted, like books, dvds, accessories, etc etc. second, the GAP groupon on thursday was killer. $25 for $50 worth of clothes!!! i ended up resisting, despite how great of a deal it was, because i knew if i walked in that store this fall i would go over the $50. plus, i'm thinking about expanding the hiatus through september (eek!) and tfinally, there were these...
audrey hepburn quote cards from bella card co's etsy shop. swoon. 2 of my favorite things (audrey + pretty stationery) in 1? practically irrestible. i about gave in, but, for now, i have remained strong!
here's to another grateful week.

I feel your no-shopping pain. At times I really feel like giving up but then I try to remind myself how awesome it is that I've gone three weeks without shopping, and not even cheated a little. The challenge this past week was the gorgeous J.Crew catalogue. I have been treating myself to Starbucks a lot more lately, which I think is a definite consequence of not "treating" myself with clothes. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeletehaha well a $3 latte is better than an $88 j.crew tank, so i'm thinking you're still ahead :)
ReplyDeletethanks for the post Diane! you are so sweet :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post! The Happiness Project happens to be on my book wishlist. And congratulations on making it so long through your shopping hiatus! That's quite an achievement. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Thank you ever so much for your sweet comment! I took anxiety meds for traveling once before and it worked out well, so it's definitely something to consider. I can only imagine that Paris would absolutely be worth it!
i have a feeling you'll LOVE the happiness project, casee!
