do you all have a go-to movie you put on when you need a little pick me up? when sick, in a bad mood, or just need some time away from real life? i actually have a few of them: beauty and the beast, you've got mail, any episode of pushing daisies, and amélie. oh, amélie. i watched this after hearing that it was a source of inspiration for bryan fuller, creator of pushing daisies, and i so see it. i love escaping into this world. the fact that it's in french makes it all the more special.

ReplyDeleteOh, I really need to see that movie. It's been on my movie bucket list forever. Onto the Netflix queue it goes!

sense and sensibility - another good one, jillian!
ReplyDeleteyes! alexandria! do it :)
kayla! i love discovering stuff like that with your online buddies! that's so funny
I love Amelie so much! But you probably already know that. I didn't know it was Bryan Fuller's inspiration - I can totally see that. The whimsy is perfection, and it has that very smart vibe that PD has too. Of course, being in French doesn't hurt either!
ReplyDeleteI have way too many feel-good movies. Another great French-language film I love is The Grocer's Son - it's one of those that are very simple, they move a bit slowly, but they're just a joy to experience. Also love Shades of Ray, a little indie comedy with Zachary Levi (from NBC's Chuck). I don't know if it's gotten distribution for a DVD release yet, but it's free to watch via Netflix. I've seen it countless times and while it's a bit silly it's also so honest and heartwarming. I also love a Lebanese film called Caramel, it's the perfect girl-power movie with a thoughtfulness about it.
Quite the random list, but there you have me!
Yay! Definitely one of my favorite movies, and Pushing Daisies is an amazing show! Have you also seen Dead Like Me? It is also by Bryan Fuller!
ReplyDeletecasee marie - i may just have to check out those movies, thanks for the suggestions!
ReplyDeletejess - it's in my netflix queue! i love bryan fuller so crazy much, so i'm hoping dead like me is the same. have you seen wonderfalls? only lasted a season, but i love that one too
