last week, my mom and i were discussing what kind of couch to put in the new family cottage's living room. backstory for newer readers: the fam has had a cottage on burt lake, mi for about 15 years or so, while also owning some acreage on a different part of the lake. we decided to build on that land about 2 years ago, and we're finally in it. a good thing too, cause that's where my sis is getting married this august ;) so back to the couch. the wall colors are a camel color, and the kitchen, which connects, has blacks and browns. the room is a fairly substantial size, and so needs a pretty substantial piece of furniture. we were thinking a brown leather couch may be the right answer: comfortable, easy stain-removal, long lasting, etc., and we can pair it with fabric chairs that can be a little more stylish.
which brings me to today's post: i thought i'd gather images of beautiful rooms featuring brown couches, to get a feel for how it might look.

what do you think of the look?

i love the look! the room first photo is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe winner is the 1st photo :) I think I spy 4 images of it here!
ReplyDeletegorgeous! as much as i love my fabric couch now, it's already showing signs of wear/stains. i think leather is a great choice! have you considered black leather?
ReplyDeleteSome of these leather couches remind me of the amazing ones at my parents' house in KS. High backs, comfy, nail head trim... I seriously would love to steal them!
ReplyDeleteYou know what would be pretty with it? Restoration has some really pretty linen chairs...muted and neutral with the nail head. Could be gorgeous.
ReplyDeletelove the look against light/white to make a dark leather really stand out!
ReplyDeleteone caution - while I love the tufted look, I imagine at the cottage you want to minimal maintenance and maximum enjoyment of your time. Even if you are the neatest family in the world, the tufting catches lint and crumbs and, depending on how deep, can be a bear to clean. Even the one thats just a tufted back.
After a couple of sets of couches over the years, my hubby and I finally invested in big, brown leather couches last year and we absolutely love them! They take a couple of months to break in (squeaky and such) but once they do they are amazing. We will have these for forever. We finally feel like grown ups :-) A quick tip for you, we had looked all over the place and finally decided on Club Furniture out of NC (I'm not affiliated with them in any way) based on a friend's recommendation. I'd highly recommend checking them out. Customer service, Delivery, quality and price were all as promised with them.
